Overview
The young daughter of an impoverished German prince, Sophia Augusta Frederica of Anhalt-Tserbtskaya, marries Russian Emperor Peter III and becomes Empress Catherine II. At first full of hopes for pure and bright love, the girl quickly becomes disappointed in her royal husband as a man and as a ruler, and while he entertains himself with banquets, hunting, fornication and humiliation of his subjects by organizing an incessant party in the palace, the young empress begins to make plans for how she herself should arrange Russia.
